Who Needs a Security License in Florida?
Anyone working as a security guard in Florida must hold a valid Class D Security License issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).
Class D License: Unarmed Security Guard
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be a US citizen or legal resident
- Complete 40 hours of approved training
- Pass a background check through FDACS
- Submit your application and $45 fee
Class G License: Armed Security Guard
Requirements
- Must already hold a valid Class D license
- Complete 28 additional hours of firearms training
- Qualify on the firing range with your duty weapon
